Welcome to Blaze. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us:
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address, username, display name, and password (securely hashed).
- Profile Information: You may optionally provide a bio and profile picture.
- Content: Posts, comments, likes, reposts, stories, and live room activity you create within the app.
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the app, including streaks, challenges completed, XP earned, and live room participation.
- Direct Messages: Messages exchanged between users, including text, images, and GIFs. Direct messages are automatically deleted 24 hours after being read by the recipient.
- Push Notification Tokens: Device tokens used to deliver push notifications about activity on your account, which you can enable or disable at any time.
2. Virtual Currency and Financial Information
2.1 Flames (Virtual Currency)
Blaze offers a virtual currency called "Flames" that can be purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system. When you purchase Flames:
- All purchases are processed securely through Apple's payment infrastructure. Blaze does not collect, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account details, or Apple Pay credentials.
- We record your purchase transaction details (amount of Flames purchased, date, and transaction ID) for account management and customer support purposes.
- Flames are a virtual, non-refundable digital item. They have no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash by the purchasing user.
2.2 Gifting
Users may send Flames as virtual gifts to other users (creators) during live rooms, in direct messages, or on user profiles. When you send or receive a gift:
- We record the sender, recipient, gift type, Flame value, and timestamp of each gift transaction.
- Gift transaction history is retained for account management, analytics, and dispute resolution.
- Gift activity may be visible to other users in live rooms (e.g., gift animations and notifications).
2.3 Creator Cashout (Payout Information)
Creators who receive Flames as gifts from other users may request to cash out their received Flames for real money. When you request a cashout:
- Payout Details: We collect your chosen payout method (PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App) and the associated email address or username required to process your payment.
- Transaction Records: We retain records of all cashout requests, including the amount of Flames cashed out, the payout amount in USD, the payout method, request status, and processing dates.
- Third-Party Payment Processors: To fulfill your cashout request, we share your payout email or username with the relevant third-party payment service (PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App). These services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your information.
- Data Retention: Cashout records are retained indefinitely for tax reporting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance purposes.
- Tax Responsibility: You are solely responsible for any tax obligations arising from cashout payments. We may be required to report payouts exceeding certain thresholds to tax authorities as required by applicable law.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Create and manage your account
- Track your progress, streaks, levels, and achievements
- Display your content to other users
- Process virtual currency purchases, gift transactions, and cashout requests
- Send you notifications about your account, activity, gifts received, and cashout status
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized transactions
- Provide creator analytics and earnings reports
- Respond to your requests and support inquiries
- Comply with legal obligations, including financial reporting requirements
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Public Content: Posts, stories, and profile information you make public are visible to other users.
- Live Rooms: Your username, profile picture, and activity (including gifts sent) are visible to other participants in live rooms.
- Payment Processors: When you request a cashout, we share your payout email or username with the selected payment service (PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App) to process your payment.
- Apple: In-App Purchase transactions are processed by Apple. Apple's privacy policy governs how they handle payment information.
- Service Providers: We may share data with third-party services that help us operate our app (hosting, analytics, push notifications).
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Passwords are securely hashed using bcrypt
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- Session tokens expire after 30 days
- Payout details are stored securely and only accessed during cashout processing
- Financial transaction data is encrypted at rest
- Regular security audits and updates
6. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Direct Messages: Automatically deleted 24 hours after being read by the recipient.
- Stories: Automatically removed after 24 hours.
- Purchase and Gift Transactions: Retained indefinitely for customer support, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
- Cashout Records: Retained indefinitely for tax reporting, financial auditing, and regulatory compliance.
- Payout Details: Retained for as long as your account is active, or as required by law. You may request removal of payout details by contacting us, subject to legal retention requirements.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and download your personal data
- Update or correct your information, including payout details
- Delete your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements for financial records)
- Opt out of non-essential communications
- Request information about what data we hold about you
- Withdraw consent for data processing where applicable
8. Children's Privacy
Blaze is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must be at least 18 years old to purchase Flames or request cashouts. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy regardless of where it is processed.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page, updating the "Last updated" date, and, where appropriate, sending you a notification within the app. Your continued use of Blaze after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
